Drinkwater gets the game underway for Burnley!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Burnley and Manchester City at Turf Moor!
City have only won one of their last five matches in all competitions (D3 L1) and a draw against Newcastle United on Saturday means that they start the day 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool. Pep Guardiola will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways today against a Burnley side that have lost four of their last six games (W2). The Clarets had climbed up the table with back-to-back 3-0 victories, but that run came to an end when they lost to Crystal Palace at the weekend.
BURNLEY STARTING XI (4-5-1): Nick Pope; Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Erik Pieters; Aaron Lennon, Jack Cork, Jeff Hendrick, Danny Drinkwater, Dwight McNeil; Chris Wood.
BURNLEY SUBS: Joe Hart, Ben Gibson, Robbie Brady, Jay Rodriguez, Matej Vydra, Matthew Lowton, Ashley Barnes.
MANCHESTER CITY STARTING XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Kyle Walker, Fernandinho, Nicolas Otamendi, Angelino; David Silva, Rodrigo, Kevin De Bruyne; Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling.
MANCHESTER CITY SUBS: Claudio Bravo, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones, Phil Foden, Eric Garcia, Joao Cancelo, Benjamin Mendy.
The teams are out on the field now, with kick-off just moments away.
Guardiola will be pleased with his side's reaction after their result at the weekend, but he will be expecting more when going forward in the second half. They've had some good chances, but haven't been clinical enough to extend their lead. As for Burnley, they've looked dangerous on the counter-attack without creating any real chances apart from McNeil's blocked effort.
That's all for today, goodbye!
City go back into second place, above Leicester City on goal difference, and close the gap to Liverpool to eight points, at least until tomorrow when they face Everton in the Merseyside derby. Next up for City is the Manchester derby on Saturday. Burnley drop down to 11th and face another tough test at the weekend when they travel to Tottenham on Saturday.
