Valencia need to overturn a three goal deficit if they are to book their place in the last eight of the Champions League, after Atalanta won the first leg 4-1 in Italy. There will be less of a home advantage for Valencia tonight, as this second leg is being played behind closed doors.
Atalanta lead 2-1 at the break, which hands them a four goal advantage in this Champions League and they should be qualifying from this position. The visitors got off to the perfect start after just three minutes, when they were awarded penalty after Diakhaby brought down Ilicic, who then converted from the spot. Gameiro pulled Valencia level after 21 minutes, but just before the break Diakhaby conceded another penalty, this time for handball, which Ilicic again scored.
It will be interesting to see if Atalanta sit back and just see the game out now, with the aggregate scoreline advantage and two away goals. Valencia have seen plenty of the ball, but haven't done much in the final third to really test Sportiello in the Atalanta goal.
That's all from us tonight folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Valencia will return to LaLiga action at the weekend, facing Levante on Saturday. Whilst Atalanta don't have any Serie A football for another few weeks, as all games have been suspended, so they will have plenty of time to prepare for their next Champions League game.
