Pep Guardiola's men are on the charge on four fronts and will be aiming ease their way through to the last eight with by dominant Basel over the two legs.
Basel finished second in Group A behind Manchester United to reach this stage of the competition. They dropped six points in their six group matches, but defeated Benfica in their last contest to place ahead of CSKA Moscow. The Swiss outfit have already beaten one Manchester team on home soil this term after claiming a 1-0 win over United. A second would give them a solid opportunity to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for only the second time.

Ilkay Gundogan put the visitors ahead with a well-placed header in the 14th minute before Bernardo Silva lofted the ball over Tomas Vaclik to double their advantage. Sergio Aguero put them well and truly in command with a powerful drive from the edge of the box, leaving Raphael Wicky's men with a huge task even just to make the tie competitive. Pep Guardiola will be delighted with his side's performance in the opening 45 minutes.

Manchester City are surely on their way into the quarter-finals of the Champions League after hammering Basel 4-0 this evening at St-Jakob Park. The visitors took the lead through Ilkay Gundogan and were relentless from then on. Bernardo Silva doubled their advantage before Sergio Aguero scored a third in the 23rd minute. Pep Guardiola's men notched a fourth as Gundogan scored his second and perhaps should have had more goals, but the result should more than see them ease through to the last eight in the competition.
